From Kedem Winery: "Kedem Winery sits on 35 acres of land nestled in New York's historic Hudson Valley. Kedem Winery's history started with producing sacramental wines from Concord grapes which grew in abundance in the area. Now, in addition to the sacramental wines that gave Kedem Winery its start, they produce some of the finest New York State wines ranging from well-known traditional viniferous varieties like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir along with New York favorites like Chambourcin, Vidal, and Traminette. Additionally, a variety of venues on the grounds make it the perfect place to hold events of any size."

What Makes a Wine Kosher?
A simple definition of “kosher,” is a food prepared in accordance with Jewish dietary laws. The term “kosher wine” refers to a wine that was made according to specific guidelines. Kosher does not represent a variety or style of winemaking and the fact that a wine is kosher has no effect on its taste. In other words, kosher wine is not like Chinese or Italian food, that are varieties of food. Since kosher law does not prohibit the use of specific wine styles, grape varieties, or origin, any wine made in accordance to these rules can be kosher. This explains the large variety of kosher wines available from around the world, including Argentina, Australia, South Africa, Spain, New York, California, France, Israel, Italy, among others.

A Bit of History about the Herzog Family Winery
"Founded in 1848, the Herzog family winery was renowned as the exclusive wine supplier to the emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Franz Josef, earning one of the early Herzogs the royal title of Baron. Besides attaining royal status, Baron Herzog's wines had also become sought after by a wave of European wine lovers. The wines became well known for their quality and high standards of production. Smooth textured, full flavored and simply delicious, these wines built a reputation that would prove valuable in later years.

"The winemaking family left Europe in 1948 and continued their tradition of winemaking excellence in the United States. The Herzog family opened Kedem Winery in the scenic Hudson Valley and worked very hard to develop a full line of opulent wines bearing the Kedem label. In later years, Kedem expanded the selection with premium label Kedem Estates wines including a Cabernet Sauvignon crafted from rich New York State grapes."
